Although 2015 Burgundy is more in demand than an Irish passport, we do actually still have small quantities to offer. If you've been checking the website you'll have noticed a number of additions. Today we are pleased to offer Chambolle and Vougeot, though mostly Chambolle and tiny amounts of the latter.
There are two domaines that we have been quietly working with over the last few years that stubbornly remain below many critics' radar. Thankfully for consumers, that means that their wines are at least available to some extent. The Felettig domaine was only founded in 1974 and Gilbert and Christine joined in 1993 and are now running the business. Over the last few years they have converted to organics in the vineyard and become much gentler and so more precise winemakers. The wines have benefited hugely from these changes; not only are they more precise, they are more complex and transparent.
We're still in the season of Epiphany but the Sigauts had theirs a few years ago. Having taken over their domaine in 1990 they continued to make workmanlike wines for several years. Now they are totally quality-focussed; again they've gone organic and use a horse in some vineyards, and have drastically reduced yields. In the cellar they do scarcely anything at all(!); avoiding fining and filtration and only racking their beautifully defined wines once. They are very worthy additions to your cellar.
Everyone knows about Hudelot-Noellat, so nearly everyone has already put in an order for Charles' wines. An attempt to order one of the last remaining cases is likely to be as futile as skateboarding, but you never know. What you might not know is that Charles has his own small, eponymous range of wines and an allocation of those is a rarity. /CW
