Including high scorers from Parker's first in-bottle reviews
There are those who contend that the best time to buy classed growth Bordeaux is around the time of its initial shipment. It's not a risk-free strategy - specific wines or formats may not be available as desired, which is one of the big advantages of buying en primeur - but over recent vintages it's proved to be opportune, as the secondary market for the youngest vintages has been unusually weak.
Three years on from the top of the market (June 2011, as measured by the Liv-ex 100 index), some analysts/speculators/contrarians are calling the bottom, and think that the pricing of 2013 Bordeaux marks a low ebb. In any case, there is unlikely to be a better time to buy 2011 Bordeaux as consumers begin to taste the wines and appreciate how good they are - even in their youth.
