"A great vintage" Robert Parker
After the fashionista frenzy that accompanied 2010 Burgundy you could be forgiven for not noticing the fabulous 2010 Rhone vintage. But you would have missed out as similar conditions to Burgundy's affected the Rhone valley throughout the course of the growing year.
These conditions gave us similarly elegant and pure wines - albeit with a tad more southern power. 2010 mirrored the freshness of Burgundy too, with a cool August giving perfect ripening to the much reduced yield of fruit. Those reduced yields have made wines with great concentration and density.
On the back of our most successful Rhone campaign ever, we invite you to a small tasting of a few remaining cask samples. Led by our educator Colin Wills it will include beautiful Hermitage from the great Marc Sorrel, muscular Rasteau from Andre Romero at Domaine La Soumade, as well as Chateauneufs from Beaucastel - deliciously focused and precise this year - and Mont-Olivet - one of the communes most consistent producers. /CW
