2009 Zind Humbrecht tasting & pre-shipment offer

13 Jul 2011

Pre-shipment offer & tasting next week tutored by Olivier Humbrecht

2009 is a year of pleasure from Alsace, with an emphasis on drier wines which will please many people. The best part of the vineyards produced fruit that even when ripe didn't carry large loads of sugar and had relatively low acidity, whilst retaining wonderful freshness, and which will age for as long as you can keep your hands off it.

This year is a great opportunity in that we have Olivier with us at the same time as the wines are released. (We usually invite him in early spring.) The advantage is that tasting the wines a little later than usual means that they will give us a better picture of what they will look like in the future.

We have a bigger and better tasting than ever this year with wines from the soon to be legal "Zind" to the classic Clos Jebsal Vendanges Tardives, consistently one of my favourite wines - from anywhere. Biodynamic growers often say that acidity expresses freshness without necessarily being present in large quantities. Come and taste the difference in these artisanal - dare I say? - naturally made wines! /CW
