2008 Mascarello Monprivato large formats

Pre-shipment offer of magnums & jeroboams

Giuseppe Mascarello's Monprivato is one of those wines to follow in every vintage - it's that good. Since the family are just about to bottle their 2008, we have a limited opportunity to order large formats (75cl bottles will get their own release a little later in the year).

2008 wasn't the easiest growing season in northern Italy, but Nebbiolo has fared well, producing cool Barolo of nervous energy - a style that particularly suits Mascarello's traditional, ethereal wines. And a glance at wine-searcher.com reveals that there are currently zero magnums of Monprivato available in the UK from any vintage at all, making these offerings extremely collectable. And what better format to pull out at a dinner party than a jeroboam of the ultimate food wine?

The simple fact is that this is a wine we encourage our friends to buy - what Barolo is all about. And, as you should be laying this wine down for the long term, these mags and jeros are a no-brainer: they'll evolve even more elegantly than the standard bottles.

A heads-up for all the Mascarellophiles out there - we'll be hosting a dinner with Giuseppe Mascarello and Michael Palij MW in June, featuring back vintages of Monprivato. Drop us a line to pre-register your interest, as places will be extremely limited. A formal email invitation including time, location and a list of the wines will be forthcoming nearer the date. /CC
