2007 Giuseppe Mascarello Barolo Monprivato pre-shipment offer

10 Aug 2011

Last year, we held a Tuscany vs Piedmont tasting with mature wines from producers like Voerzio, Clerico, Scavino and Gaja. We decided to show the 2004 Mascarello Monprivato as well, even though we were certain it would be backward in its youth. It turned out to be one of the wines of the tasting (and one of the least expensive) - so expressive and pretty, all who tasted it that night have become devoted followers.

2007 in Barolo was a great vintage, producing sexy and elegant wines. Mauro Mascarello has made a stunning Monprivato, one of his most perfumed and ageworthy offerings to date. No Ca d'Morissio was made in 2007, so 100% of the best plot was blended into the Monprivato. For those that know and follow this wine, the 2007 is a no-brainer: more substantial than the 2004, with soaring aromatics. If you've not bought it before, you will thank us years down the line for introducing you to it. Quite simply one of the best Baroli being made today. /CC

'The 2007 Barolo Monprivato is flat-out stunning. Deep, powerful layered and totally impeccable, the 2007 possesses marvelous class and harmony. Readers will have a hard time choosing among the numerous great vintages that are on the market. My advice? Readers should own at least some of all of the wines from 2004-2007. I have made many mistakes with Monprivato over the years; they have all involved not cellaring enough of the great vintages. Drink 2017-2037. 94-97 points.' - Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate, February 2011

Offered subject to confirmation for shipment winter 2011/12
