All granite-clay which Bevan Newton Johnson says gives the wine more structure, intensity and less perfume. And indeed it does! Darker fruit (not black, though, just darker), more forward, peppery and real grip to the tannins. Dramatically grippier. Power over grace. Mulberry, even a tiny bit of damson, cherry, mushroom. Forest-floor violets. Like the Seadragon, though, it also signs off with a pretty little rose-hip flourish of sweetness. I’d give this more time. 17++ points
