Aged entirely in new barriques, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Speciale des Comtes de Courten is a 50-50 blend of Grenache and Mourvedre this vintage. Cedar notes accent ripe cherries in this full-bodied, velvety wine and then pick more savory elements on the finish, adding notes of cola-spice and anise. 95 points
