My visit to Turckheim to taste the 2017 Zind-Humbrechts was an eye-opening experience. They have some stunning vineyards that tumble down the final slopes of the Vosges Mountains before the plain of Alsace, and a very impressive cellar. The care and attention to detail that goes into every stage of the winemaking process is a wonder to behold - and then there are the wines. Beset by frost, 2017 is a very low-yield vintage, but what wine there is intense, pure, precise and powerful.
We're delighted to be welcoming Olivier Humbrecht back to Uncorked for his annual tasting. No winemaker has given more tastings in the shop, and his unbroken chain of visits all the way back to 2006 when he showed us the 2004s has allowed us a unique perspective on his domaine and the always altering dynamics of vintage effects. Olivier will talk us through a tasting of his 2017s, and answer any questions you care to throw at him about the vintage, Alsace or his winemaking. Join us for what promises to be a fascinating evening.
