Rioja is most known for Tempranillo, but the large area of Rioja Baja where this wine comes from is really Garnacha country. The Inedito S (S for Selection) eschews Tempranillo altogether for a blend of Garnacha and the very high-quality, low-yielding Graciano grape; Graciano is normally a minor component in Rioja blends, but here it dominates. Winemaker Luis Arnedo has three generations of family experience to draw on, not to mention the expertise of his neighbour, consultant and fellow winemaker Olivier Rivere. It shows in this wine; full and fresh, dark and vigorous, not heavily oaked, with a cut of acid. Delicious. (NT 28/09/17)
