2016 Castello di Tassarolo Gavi Senza Solfiti

This is the wild card in the Castello di Tassarolo range, their Gavi that has had no added sulphur during winemaking. This is always a risky manoeuvre, as sulphur is a natural preservative, so you never know quite what you`re going to get... in fact, this has a much more yeasty, leesy character than the more `classic` Tassarolo Gavis. It has a beery tang to it, a bitter finish that is quite like Hoegaarden. It may take a little getting used to, but is very interesting wine. (NT 31/08/17)
