La Monacesca is in the DOC Matelica di Verdicchio, situated on a spine of mountains halfway between Perugia and Ancona. The Mirum Riserva is made from slightly overripe grapes. The result is a wine both mineral and honeyed, built to last, with the profundity and ageability of serious white Burgundy. (NT 05/12/15)
