Malvasia is not really a grape, but a group of grapes; the I Clivi is really Malvasia Istriana, a particular flavour of the variety native to Friuli. The I Clivi estate was only founded in the 90s, but they cultivate grapes on very old vineyards lining slopes looking down into the Adriatic. Very mineral, but with plenty of attractive fruit coming through too. (NT 07/08/15)
