The Frapin Cognac Cask Strength 12 yo has been bottled at 46% alcohol as the warmer southern cellars allow for slightly faster evaporation than the cold warehouses of Speyside or the Highlands, so if you are a malt whisky drinker you will recognise the mature aromas and rich complexity of a fine, older Speyside. At 12 years old this is entitled to be an XO and as ever does not have any colouring added and is made from scratch on the Frapin estate. It has floral and apricot flavours from the base wine and vanilla and spice from the cask. Delicious and serious. (CW 20/03/17)
