Now known as Braeval (Bray-val), the Braes of Glenlivet was built in the far south of Speyside by Seagram in 1973 to provide blending material for their big brands. It is a large and efficient modern plant, but manages nevertheless to produce malts of distiction if this is anything to go by. It has never appeared in an official bottling. It`s rich, sweet and tobaccoey and very nice indeed. (CW 19/03/13)
