The Donnhoff 2010 Riesling trocken Tonschiefer – originating, as usually, in the Oberhauser Leistenberg – leads with a rather Saar-like alliance of fresh cherry, lime, and cress, all serving for juicy invigoration. There is less sheer lift and refreshment than in the ostensibly lesser, generic Riesling trocken, with the wet stone undertone promised by this wine’s name prominently present in a seriously sustained finish. I would expect this to remain well worth returning to for at least 4-5 years. 88 points
