Neal Martin

Now part of the Domaine Clarence Dillon portfolio (Haut-Brion, La Mission inter alia) the Quintus now included the vineyard of Château l`Arrosée since its acquisition in October 2013. That means they have a considerable 28-hectares of prime Right Bank "dirt". The nose definitely possesses more fruit concentration than the second wine offering vanilla-infused red and black fruit that is quite glossy and generous. The palate is medium-bodied with a pleasant, slightly chewy entry, a fine bead of acidity with a slightly pinched by focused finish. Tasted twice with consistent notes, this is a fine Quintus, although there will surely be greater wines in more benevolent vintages. Tasted April 2014. 88-90 points

James Suckling

A bright, chewy wine with orange-peel, cedar and plum character. Full body with a juicy palate and a medium finish. 80% merlot and 20% cabernet franc. This has grapes from L’Arosse in it for the first time. Savory. 89-90 points
