Allen Meadows

As is usually the case, this is one of the riper wines in the Barthod range with its spicy aromas of cassis and black cherry. There is a seductive richness and velvety texture to the very generous and lush flavors that display very good depth and length. Lovely. From 2017. 89-91 points

Good bright, dark red. Expressive aromas of raspberry, minerals, flowers and spices. Moderately intense red cherry, red berry and pepper flavors display good energy. Not a fat style of Charmes--in fact, a tad lean on the lingering finish. Barthod believes that some of her premier crus are tightening up in barrel with the coming of cold weather, and this one is a prime example. 88-91 points

`Deeper and small stones and these stones keep the sun and we always get the maturity….in the village section there is bit less stone than in the 1er cru.` Dark fruit here and fleshiness to the aroma; fleshy violet petals. succulent onto the palate, rich and generous and dark cherry fruit. Touch of sweet chocolate, with the black cherry. It tightens to a fresh and slightly sappy finish. Sweeps down and then up. Very inviting. Towards fine. 17.75 points
