The Château Petit Village 2014 is a blend of 72% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc and 12% Cabernet Sauvignon that is matured in 65% new oak cropped at 32 hectoliters per hectare. There is a sense of richness and creaminess on the nose, nicely defined and pure, though it needs to muster a little more "personality" throughout its élevage. The palate is medium-bodied with soft supple tannin, plenty of lightly spiced red fruit with an almost viscous finish. This is a nicely composed Petit-Village that should drink well over the next 10 to 15 years but I must confess that I was expecting more. 88-90 points

This was Marielle Cazaux`s last vintage before she moved to Château La Conseillante and it`s a fitting trubute to what she has achieved at Petit Village. A big, bold sturdy wine with lots of colour, texture and oak and a tannic backbone from the comparatively high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon. 92 points
