2011 Duhart-Milon (Pauillac)

Media Reviews

Robert Parker

Tart acids give this dark ruby/purple-tinged wine a crunchy, fresh, lively feel on the palate. Composed of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot, this medium-bodied 2011 reveals loads of finesse and purity, but is slightly superficial compared to recent vintages such as 2009 and 2010. It should drink well for 10-15 years. 89-91 points

Jean-Marc Quarin

Beautiful purplish crimson with garnet hues. Clean, extremely detailed and fruity nose. Voluptuous, mouth-filling and beautifully coated palate offering good structure and a tannic and layered length. Should gain even more polish at the elevage. Very nice indeed. A blend of 75% cabernet sauvignon and 25% merlot. 89 points

The 2011 Duhart Milon is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot and offers a typically foursquare bouquet with blackberry, wild hedgerow and pencil lead. It does not have the aromatic penetration displayed by the 2010 last year. The palate is medium-bodied and demands time to unwind, displaying broody dark b erries and a touch of sous-bois and black olive. There is a Graves-like tincture towards the finish. This is a sedate, medium-term Duhart. 89-91 points

A classic Pauillac from a lighter year, this isn’t far behind stable mate Lafite in 2011(which may be a comment on the quality of the latter as much as anything). Crunchy acidity, medium weight, sinewy tannins and a sweet blackberry finish. A wine that shows good structure on the finish, with refreshing acidity. 10+ years. 93 points
