2020 Olivier Coste Rare Carignan Blanc

Languedoc
A rare bird indeed, this grapevariety, with only a couple of hundred hectares planted. This one comes from near Faugères in the south of France. Apart from being carbon neutral it is farmed organically. As with red Carignan the best wines come from old vines and these were planted in the 1940s. On the nose it`s rhubarb and custard, reminding me of a young Hermitage. More rhubarb on the palate but mostly peaches and apricots and finishing with a bit of greengage freshness. (CW 16/06/21)

Tamlyn Currin

Certified Carbon Neutral. Made by Olivier Coste of Dom Montrose. Peaches. Plump peaches. A dollop of cream. Sprinkled with dukkah and dried oregano. Perfect for summer afternoons in the garden with a giant bowl of salty popcorn and a lazy book. 15.5 points
