This estate is located within the Mérignac commune, very close to the centre of Bordeaux in a warm spot, and you can feel a slight lack of freshness as a result. It`s certainly juicy and rich though, with lovely gourmet touches to the palate but lacking grip. 20% new oak. 89 points

80% Sauvignon Blanc, 20% Sémillon; 20% new oak. 80% Sauvignon Blanc, 20% Sémillon; 20% new oak. Interesting aroma that has tangy citrus, herbs and a touch of almonds. A little too tart on the palate, so although it is fresh, it is slightly uncomfortable – eye-watering. 15.5 points

The Picque-Caillou 2018 Blanc has intense scents of fresh lime juice, green mangos and fresh pears with touches of orange blossom, chalk dust and yuzu. Light to medium-bodied, it sports a crisp line of freshness cutting through the intense citrus and tropical fruit layers, finishing long and chalky. 90-92 points

The vineyard is 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Semillon, the blend presumably similar. The nose is full of lightly dried fruits, especially dried white peach slices, wrapped up in some buttery and honeyed oak. A rather attractive note of beeswax on the palate, rather more reminiscent of Chenin Blanc than Sauvignon, with a broad and polished substance, undeniably packed with phenolic stuffing, and a delicate central vein of acidity. Rather a supple finish, with a touch of freshness. A nice result taking into account the vintage. 89-91 points
