The 2018 Pinot Noir Zeltinger Schlossberg * is intense and concentrated on the warm, fruity and toasty nose that exhibits a super ripe and concentrated cherry aroma along with flint stone and nougat tones. Not as finessed as the one-starred Mandelgraben, neither on the nose nor on the palate, this is more of a German Spätburgunder than a Pinot Noir. The full-bodied wine is dense, intense and supple but also focused on the palate that shows a mouth-filling, round, smooth and somewhat too rich and sweet-tasting red with ripe and crunchy tannins intermingled with crystalline and iodine sensations. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in July 2022. 92 points
