80% of their holding of a hectare is from 78 year old vines, exposed south-east, with 20% on the opposite flank. The two slopes were picked together in 2018 which is not always the case. This is quite luxurious with some peaches and yellow plums, 13.4% but in balance. This is ripe aromatically but with no undue heat. 91-94 points

The 2018 Valmur was assembled in July and was to be bottled in early December. The wine is showing excellent potential on both the nose and palate, with the bouquet wafting from the glass in a mix of apple, pear, a touch of paraffin, orange blossoms, a fine base of chalky soil tones and just a hint of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and quite primary in personality today, with an excellent core, bright acids, fine focus and grip and a long, nascently complex and very promising finish. Drink 2024-2075. 93+ points

The 2018 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru is matured 50% in barrel and the rest in tank, with just a small percentage of new wood. It has a fresh bouquet that is beautifully defined, hints of jasmine and white flowers, crushed stone and peony developing with time. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, and slightly waxy in texture. A discreet grilled walnut note develops toward the finish. A complex Valmur, this, and reassuringly persistent on the aftertaste. 93 points
