Pithy and intense lemon and lime fruit with a lovely top note of jasmine flower, this wine would be a fabulous match with Thai or Vietnamese food. Once upon a time on the trade route to the Americas, the wines of the Canary Islands enjoyed great renown in Shakespearian England. But then of course the world moved on, and these wines were largely forgotten... until now. Bodegas Vinatigo specialise in recultivating the indigenous island varieties, and they have scored a blinder with this rendition of Gual. It`s the same grape variety as Madeira`s Boal; and Madeira of course was another stop on that old trade route. (NT 11/05/20)
