It is a common misconception that Gavi di Gavi is the best the region can get – inspired I suppose by Sinatra’s New York, New York. So good they named it twice, maybe, but in fact the commune of Tassarolo, with its iron-rich soils is the finest place to grow the challenging Cortese grape variety and bring it to the table character intact and enhanced by terroir and minerality. Lemony and refreshing, this is Gavi as it ought to be. (CW 30/0/19)
