The 2017 Fixin Village comes from four vineyards and had been blended one month prior to my visit, this sample taken from foudre. It sees no new oak. It has a lovely, engaging brightness on the nose of joyful morello and crushed strawberry scents, veins of blue fruit emerging with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a fine bead of acidity and hints of sour cherry imparting a welcome edginess to the tart finish and its saline aftertaste. This offers a fine introduction to Amélie Berthaut`s winemaking skill. 87-89 points

The 2017 Fixin Village was finishing up its élevage in foudre when I tasted it, having been racked out of barrel before harvest. Offering up aromas of cassis, plums and coniferous forest floor, the wine is medium-bodied, satiny and supple, with a pretty core of juicy fruit framed by melting tannins. It will be hard to resist out of the gates. 87-89 points
