The 2016 Meursault Village had been bottled three weeks before my visit in Beaune. It has quite a showy, brioche and peach skin-scented bouquet with a smudge of yellow plum in the background. The palate is well balanced with plenty of peach and nectarine on the entry, perhaps a more commercial Meursault, but there is nothing wrong with that if it is well made. And I feel that this is well made. 89 points

(production was down 40% in 2016): Pale, bright yellow. Aromas of yellow fruits, nutmeg and hazelnut. A bit lacking in refinement but shows decent intensity to its soft flavors of yellow fruits and spices. Finishes a bit diffuse, with an impression of warmth. 87-88 points

Bottled. 13 months in oak. Beyond that: creamy and rounded and very gentle. Quite light in the middle and tails off on the finish but that creamy oatmeal character is very attractive. 16 points
