Aromatic, on the palate lots of fig, not as sweet as Taylor but denser, more matter, better integrated alcohol. The tannins are more fruit-coated and it has a longer, dark-fruited finish. (CW 17/05/18)

Jancis Robinson
The main ingredient is Quinta do Panascal on the steep slopes of the Ta´vora Valley. The wines of Fonseca’s two quintas in the Pinha~o Valley, Cruzeiro and Santo Anto´nio, are also traditional components of what is usually a particularly opulent blend. 5,000 cases made. Dark crimson with a slightly chestnut hue. Very much a cloud rather than a rapier on the nose – hedonistic and ripe with masses of sweetness almost masking a rigorous corset of tannins. You really taste the heat here – but in a very ripe fruit way, not in a hot spirit way. Drink 2036-2066. 17.5+ points
