David Schildknecht
Apple blossom and iris garland juicy apple fruit that is well supported by judicious sweetness. On the nose come intimations of mossy wet stone that subsequently helps set off the fruit on a silken palate and on a finish piquantly tinged with apple seed and Chenin-like snuffed candle wick. This will prove both highly versatile at table and fun to follow in bottle for at least a couple of years, even though I suspect that regrettably few wine lovers ever hold on to `intro-level` bottlings. 89 points

Dönnhoff`s flinty 2016 Nahe Riesling (Estate) is perfectly round, piquant and fruity, a light Riesling from volcanic soils in the Oberhausen`s southeast-facing vineyards Kieselberg and Felsenberg. Elegantly piquant and salty. A gorgeous wine for a sensational price. Too good to be true. 90 points
