Blackberry jam staining freshly tanned leather, polished banisters in a stately home. Wine speaks of its time and its place, and Aster captures the dry, hot, stony landscape of Ribera del Duero. Ribera del Duero rose to challenge Rioja as the pre-eminent Spanish wine region in the 1990s, and the Aster showcases the way Tempranillo (here called Tinto Fino) expresses a darker, more forceful character in Ribera del Duero. Rack of lamb please. (NT 16/04/21)

Josh Raynolds
Inky ruby. Powerful black and blue fruit aromas are complemented by suggestions of licorice, dark chocolate and candied violet. Ripe and fleshy on the palate, offering weighty cassis and bitter cherry flavors and an energizing jolt of spiciness. Finishes chewy and long, with gently gripping tannins and lingering smokiness. 90 points
