Delicately flavoured (white flowers spring to mind) this is first and foremost a wine of texture - 50% barrel ferment brings a certain richness to the fine structure. It is made entirely from Encruzado, a grape variety native to and rarely seen outside Portugal`s central north Dao region. Encruzado is certainly the jewel among the Dao`s local white varieties, and winemaker Luis Lourenco is proud of what he has achieved here. Delightful now, this will also age effortlessly.
