The joy of Portuguese wine is indigenous grape varieties - the Redoma Branco is blended (mainly) from Rabigato, Codega do Larinho, Viosinho, Donzelinho and Gouveio. You don`t need to learn all these, just recognise that this is a fairly classic white wine from the Douro - mineral, delicate and very fresh. The bouquet is citric, with a touch of orange blossom. It has also seen some old oak which you perceive more from texture than taste. Yet another fine wine from Dirk Niepoort. (NT 12/04/16)
