2013 Giuseppe Mascarello Barolo Ca d`Morissio

Monprivato Riserva
Ca d`Morissio is a riserva made from an enclave within the Monprivato vineyard, with a unique clonal selection. Since before the time of the Mascarellos, this parcel had been planted with the old Michet clone of Nebbiolo. In 1921, Maurizio (Maurissio, in Piedmontese dialect) Mascarello carried out a massal selection of the best of these old vines, and used the selection to replant the entire parcel with them – since then, this parcel has been known as the Ca d`Morissio. It is only made in the very best vintages, and benefits from the extended elevage of the riserva style. 2013 is such a year, one of the great recent vintages of the region, noted for its intense, structured and potentially very long-lived wines.
