The Montsant DO is in Catalonia roughly between Priorat and Penedes, and the Lasendal is a brilliant, economical way to get a taste of the classic character of these two great regions. It comes from vines grown on slopes above the village of Capcanes, from which the winery takes its name, and is mainly Grenache (with a touch of Syrah in a supporting role). It`s also spent time in a mix of US and French oak barrels. The result is a wine with vivid fruit, good structure and a whiff of smoke. (NT 05/12/16)
