Vivid straw-yellow. Vibrant and sharply focused on the nose, displaying intense pear nectar, orange zest and floral scents and a smoky mineral overtone. Juicy, spice-tinged orchard and citrus fruit, buttered toast and honeysuckle flavors show excellent clarity and pick up a nutty accent with air. Fleshy and concentrated yet nervy as well, finishing with firm, chewy cut and resonating mineral and citrus pith notes. This fruit comes from bush vines that are over 50 years old. 92 points

The 2012 Visol Brut Nature, now a Gran Reserva, is a blend of Xarello, Macabeo and Parellada that was fermented and matured in barrique with lees for six months and refermented in bottle, where it was kept with the lees for 60 months, closed with a natural cork and sold without any added sugar. It was the first Brut Nature produced in Spain. The name—"Vi Sol" in Catalan—means "only wine," meaning nothing was added to it. It feels very young for a 2012 and is a versatile sparkling wine very apt for the table, with its dry palate and an almost salty finish. The palate is very compact and integrated, with fine bubbles and balanced acidity, very easy to drink. 9,862 bottles produced. 91 points
