Chateau La Perriere is on the up. With dynamic owners who are ambitious for their property, this little Bordeaux secret is offering some very interesting drinking. Owner Jean-Luc Sylvain comes from a cooperage background but despite - or because - of that, he thinks that too many clarets are over-oaked. He sees the abuse of barrels as a scourge of contemporary Bordeaux and wants wine and terroir to shine and not winemaking kit. We only have a little parcel of this great value claret. (CW 1/02/19)
