Sherry butt
Williamson is in fact a bottling of Laphroaig named in honour of Bessie Williamson, former Laphroaig owner and the first woman (at least in the 20th century) to manage a whisky distillery. She piloted the distillery through the difficult years of the Second World War, and in the 60s foresaw the boom in single malts, postioning Laphraoig for big success in the American market. This bottling initially seems to have low levels of peat for Laphroaig, but that is deceptive; as air and water get to the malt, it gets peatier and peatier. A grand tribute to a grand lady.
