Robert Parker
This dark ruby-hued, slightly austere, mid-weight, competent 2011 Cru Bourgeois reveals earthy, black cherry fruit, some firmness, moderate tannin and adequate purity. It is best consumed over the next 5-6 years. 85 points
Jean-Marc Quarin
This Saint-Estèphe estate has not been hit by hail. Deep, fairly intense garnet hue. Subdued nose of fruit. Juicy and aromatic on the palate, with fat tannins and run through with taste. Lovely expression of fruit on finish. Average length backed by fine-grained tannins. A blend of 74% cabernet sauvignon and 26% merlot. 86 points

A blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon and 26% Merlot, harvested from 5th September and finishing 19th September with the Cabernet, the Capbern Gasqueton has a simple bouquet of raspberry leaf, strawberry and a touch of mulberry fruit. There is a touch of hardness on the entry, although that will soften by the time of bottling. Good acidity, masculine, not quite as precise as the 2010 with a slight abrupt finish. This will be a medium-term drinking Capbern-Gasqueton. 87-89 points
