Strathmill (aka `the mill in the long valley`) was originally a corn mill which was converted to a distillery during the late 19th century whisky boom. Though that boom turned to bust, and remains a cautionary tale to distillers to this day, Strathmill survived and became a sought-after blender. Here, a classic Speyside hogshead has been finished in Pedro Ximenez octaves for 10 months – this bottling is brimming with dark fruits and spice, Christmas cake and eucalyptus. (NT 24/06/19)
