Bourbon Barrel
A bottling named in honour of Bessie Williamson, former Laphroaig owner and the first woman (at least in the 20th century) to manage a whisky distillery. She piloted the distillery through the difficult years of the Second World War, and in the 60s foresaw the boom in single malts, postioning Laphraoig for big success in the American market. A punchy, peaty malt, with that typical touch of iodine that plants your feet in the shallows. Smoke and seaweed. (NT 10/07/18)
