Luis Gutierrez
The 2010 Pulenta Gran Corte is a blend of 42% Malbec, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot and 14% Petit Verdot from Alto Agrelo which has a subtle, restrained, classic nose, with elegant notes of balsamic woods, raspberry leaf, redcurrant, blackberries, cassis, incense and black pepper. It has superb balance, ultra-sleek tannins, penetrating flavors, great intensity and a long, sweet finish. This is very classy. Drink 2014-2022. 93 points

(a blend of malbec, cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot; aged for 18 months in new French oak): Bright ruby-red. Aromas of cassis, redcurrant, spicecake, licorice and cocoa powder are complicated by a fresh element of peppery herbs. Suave and smooth on entry, then musky, dense and concentrated in the middle, with ripe, harmonious acidity giving the wine impeccable balance. The flavors of currant, mocha, spicy herbs and tobacco leaf are pliant and refined. Finishes long, saline and aromatic, with integrated tannins, noteworthy vinosity and attractive restrained sweetness. Very Old World in style. 91 points
