Luis Pato is often described as the modernist master of the Baga grape variety, yet he himself disputes the label `modernist` - he argues he is making wines in a very traditional style. Yet there is no denying he has brought new life and freshness to a kind of wine that was being overlooked. Baga is a tough, powerful grape variety that can bear long aging.
