Run by Colin Wills with able and experienced help from Pete Govey and Quentin Sadler, the Uncorked Wine School has been operating quietly but busily for a number of years. Including a comprehensive course manual, this course introduces you to tasting technique, growing grapes and making wine and takes you on a gallop around the world. You'll get to know the character of the main grape varieties and producing countries as well be entertained and enlightened by our tutors. We taste six wines per session.

Using five wines per session, we go deeply into texture, taste, aroma and flavour, including attempting to retrain your brain to access your smell memory bank and teaching you to taste like a pro. In this course we look at the usual regions as well as some of the lesser known ones. We will spend time deconstructing labels and working out how the French use places as much as grape varieties to indicate the style of their wines. Confused? You needn't be. /CW

Spain and Portugal - the wines of the Iberian Peninsula

Providers of some of the best known and least known wines on the UK market, these two countries have a plethora of indigenous grape varieties combined with some distinctive winemaking styles and skills. We will explore together a range of the fortified and table wines they produce and see how both history and geography combine in the bottle. /CW
