Do you dream of owning your own Tuscan wine estate? Then come along on Wednesday to meet Alberto Tanzini. Alberto worked in finance in Milan but dreamt of a better life. He fell in love with Roccapesta, a wine estate in the heart of the coastal Morellino di Scansano DOCG zone. We visited him recently and he welcomed us with a comparative tasting of Scansano's best estates. On Wednesday he will be here to tell his story and to raise the stakes by showing his wines alongside some of the best - not just in Scansano, but in all of Tuscany.

The Gorelli family owns Vineria Le Potazzine, a small restaurant in the centre of Montalcino where all the town's best wines are available at very reasonable prices. Like Alberto, Giuseppe Gorelli is happy for his wines to be seen amongst peers. No one makes top quality, better value Brunello than Le Potazzine. A little further north, at the very heart of Chianti Classico, lies Rocca di Montegrossi. This small estate was carved from the holdings of the revered Ricasoli family, creators of Chianti Classico as we know it today, and whose winemaking roots in the area date back to the twelfth century. Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi has worked tirelessly to build the quality and the name to a point where Montegrossi rivals Chianti's best. (The Chianti Classico received the highest mark of any 2008 in the latest Wine Advocate.)

Come and meet Alberto as he pours his wines alongside those of Le Potazzine and Rocca di Montegrossi. See how Scansano's best compares with its more illustrious neighbours. /AR
