Taste from midday at our Bishopsgate shop with Asami and later Ikumi
One of the success stories of the last year at Uncorked has been the introduction of a whole new category of drink, sake, a.k.a. Japanese rice wine. So we are delighted to welcome back our sake sensei Asami Tasaki, and introduce a new sake teacher, Asami's colleague Ikumi Sasaki.
Having proven ourselves with some classic sake styles over the last year, we are now being allowed to progress to some advanced sakes, and Asami and Ikumi will be showing a new addition to our range, the milky Kamoizumi Nigori Ginjo - 'summer snow'. We'll also be tasting two now established staples: the Sohomare Tokubetsu Kimoto ('heart and soul') is clean and creamy, while the Kamoizumi Umeshu ('umelicious') is a deep and complex plum sake, a brilliant match for such a traditionally European dish as venison and redcurrant. East meets west, indeed.
Asami will be in the shop between 12-2pm and Ikumi will be here from 5-6:30pm, but you can pop in to taste any time between 12-6:30pm. /NT
