Even supermarkets claim to offer advice, though this is usually limited to telling you on which aisle the wine is located. The level of knowledge in some of our previously excellent high street chains has been diluted as staff have been demoralised or made redundant.

Quality of advice is crucial to match you with your ideal wine for the meal or occasion you are hosting or attending, and almost every producer or region we sell has been visited by at least one member of staff and everybody has tasted almost every wine. If the person you are talking to hasn't, someone who has will help you.
