Pauline Lurton, our stagiare, presents five of her family's wines
Free tasting at our Bishopsgate shop from midday today

Since 1920, my family has dedicated its time and talent to the great Bordeaux wine industry so as to provide wine lovers with traditional and unequalled experiences. Bordeaux is located on the southwest side of France. It is the world's best-known wine capital. Indeed, over more than two centuries, my region has provided experienced and talented winemakers with its prestigious and sought-after quality terroirs giving birth to more than 57 appellations known worldwide - Médoc, St-Emilion, Graves, Sauternes, Pessac-Léognan, Entre-deux-Mers... - all spread across 115 000 hectares of fertile lands with 8500 grand chateaux. Protecting a unique know-how built through generations, the Lurtons are collectively Bordeaux's largest holder of wine-producing land owning some 1200 hectares in the region, with 27 domaines.

Some of them demonstrate these shared values through their own contribution to the wine industry - just like my uncle, Pierre Lurton, who - as well as owning Chateau Marjosse - also manages both world-famous Cheval Blanc and Yquem. Others, like my two younger uncles Jeremie and Thomas, run Chateau Martouret, a lovely domaine in the Entre-Deux-Mers region. I will also introduce you to a tremendous example of the Lurtons' wines such as Brane-Cantenac, owned by my father's cousin Henri.

At last, as you might be expecting, I will have the opportunity to introduce you to my father, Marc Lurton's, two chateaux, Reynier and Bouchet 'La Rentière', which he has been running since 1996. I have brought some bottles of Chateau Reynier, a 15th century fortified manor house where I spent my childhood and which has belonged to my family for more than four generations. You will be the privileged taster of my top wine, Chateau Reynier 'Cuvee Heritage' - not yet in stock at Uncorked, but hopefully soon!

Today, Friday 24 of June, five of these wines will be on tasting, free of charge, at the Bishopsgate shop from midday. It will be my pleasure to assist you with the best comments and advice concerning our wines. /Pauline Lurton
