Why is it the best Laphroaigs never taste like the distillery bottlings? This one is richer, smokey, unashamedly peaty but not aggressively so. Complex and showing signs of the ageing essential for Islay whiskies, it still retains much of its primary flavour and finishes long and assertive. (CW 14/12/10)
