WARNING. SCARY WINE
Right then, this is cloudy and has bits in and when you first open it smells, ahem, somewhat unusual. But you didn`t open it just before dinner, did you. No, you opened it just before dinner yesterday, to drink today. This isn`t a wine for those spontaneous souls who`ll rip the cork out on a whim, it is for those amongst you with a spiritual side, some restraint and who plan their drinking.
Do that and you will have a wild a woolly wine with some of the most extraordinary flavours and texture you have experienced. Pure Vermentino, or Rolle to the French, unfiltered, unfined and unsulphured. A wild, hardcore wine that has slept with all your friends before you were introduced, but who will resist all your advances. So enjoy.
Just watch your back. (CW 01/10/10)
Antonio Galloni:
The 2006 Vermentino opens up in the glass with gorgeous candied apricots, peaches and baking spices that spin out of its frame like a ringing tenor voice. Readers will find a wine of breathtaking elegance and finesse. The cloudy color is reminiscent of the wines of the Gravner school and should not be considered a flaw. That said, this naturally made, unfiltered, unfined white demands the taster’s full attention in order to be fully appreciated. Anticipated maturity. 2009-2011
